Description

The Aldens investigate a mystery from the Gold Rush!

The Aldens investigate a mystery from the Gold Rush!

When Cousin Joe's friend disappears, the Aldens are eager to help find where he's gone. Their journey leads to the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, where a story about a lost gold mine has attracted treasure hunters for more than a hundred years. Did the legend bring Joe's friend to the West? To find out, the Aldens will need to dig in to a mystery going all the way back to the Gold Rush.

About the Author

Gertrude Chandler Warner grew up in Putnam, Connecticut. She wrote The Boxcar Children because she had always dreamed about what it would be like to live in a caboose or a freight car—just as the Aldens do. When readers asked for more adventures, Warner wrote more books—a total of nineteen in all. After her death, other authors have continued to write stories about Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny Alden, and today The Boxcar Children® series has more than one hundred books.

Karen De la Vega is a freelance illustrator and educational psychologist based in Mexico.
